Things you should know before playing Minecraft!

What no one told you!

If your like me you probably didn't know some of these things that no one really told you about.   I'm going to talk about some secrets that can save you time on Minecraft, even maybe your life as you know it.   Nothing I say is going to be anything you wouldn't learn but I do hope it will make your single game mode much more enjoyable!   If you want to use these tips, you will need to enable cheating, when creating a single player world on Minecraft!

There is no place like Home!

When you find a place you can set up a home for yourself this would be an excellent time to set your world spawn point by "/setworldspawn".   This will make you spawn at when you die, it can save you time when you happen to die for one reason or another.   Although this tip is often over looked by new players it can be a hassle trying to find your home again!

Teleportation is everything!

When you finally get your home built you will want to create a way to easily teleport from one x, y, and z coordinate to another.   There are two ways to do it:

/tp (username) x y z

or

You could use command blocks to do it for you just by typing:

/give (username)  minecraft:command_block <amount>

The problem with this one is that after you get the command blocks in order to edit them and change them you will need to be on creative mode.   you can do that by type "/set gamemode (0 or 1)".   0 is for survival and 1 is used for creative. So you just need to go into creative edit the block that is placed and then change back to the survival.

F3

The Last tip is that you can use F3 to figure out what your coordinates are so you can know how to get back to your Home base.   This isn't like it is hard to do but some just don't like to use the extra keys but they are essential in the game play.   So you just need to write down those that you need to know and that way you will always have a way to find your way to those important places!

How to make a simple Two level Enchantment Table without Sticky Pistons!

Enchantment Table and Bookshelves!

The Mechanics of Enchantment tables have been thoroughly been talked about but there are times when you need to have a lower level of enchantments, but you get tired of using torches to get lower enchantment levels.   The problem with some of the other techniques for doing this is that you need a Slimeball to create a Sticky Piston and I don't have Slimeball.   The Alternative is easy.   I created a two tier piston movement to do the job!

What you Will need!

  1. 22 Pistons (66 Wood Blocks, 22 Iron Ore's, 22 Redstone, and 44 Cobblestone)
  2. 4 Redstone Repeaters (12 Stone, 8 Redstone Torches, 4 Redstones)
  3. Redstone (More than 40 stones)
  4. 2 buttons (2 Blocks of Wood)
  5. Min 11 Wood blocks
Place 11 Pistons on the Bottom of the setup just like you were going to do if you had sticky pistons but instead of having a lever to keep it on to bring up the 2nd layer of books.  I have put on top and bottom of the book shelves a piston.

The equation

If you have a room only two blocks high, you need at least 11 wood blocks or you could use cobblestone to do the same thing.

  • 2 blocks high -- You will need to 6 blocks up and down to use.   The 1'st block and last block will be the piston.   The 2nd and 3rd block will be Book Shelf and the 4th block will be either Cobblestone or Wood.  5th block will be empty.   So to let the piston extend one block!
  • 3 blocks high -- Same thing as 2 blocks high but add 1 more block to up and down and add another Wood or Cobblestone block.   You can continue this till the limit but that is up to you, which is a total of 12 blocks can be moved with a piston.

After that you are all set.   You just need to add repeaters and then high the redstone markings and repeaters by putting blocks in front of it.   You will also need to have test it but if you have done it right one of the bookshelves will disappear into the floor.  This is how I created my 2 level enchanting table to be able to use both high and low level enchants with!   Very useful!
