Enchantment Table and Bookshelves!
The Mechanics of Enchantment tables have been thoroughly been talked about but there are times when you need to have a lower level of enchantments, but you get tired of using torches to get lower enchantment levels. The problem with some of the other techniques for doing this is that you need a Slimeball to create a Sticky Piston and I don't have Slimeball. The Alternative is easy. I created a two tier piston movement to do the job!
What you Will need!
- 22 Pistons (66 Wood Blocks, 22 Iron Ore's, 22 Redstone, and 44 Cobblestone)
- 4 Redstone Repeaters (12 Stone, 8 Redstone Torches, 4 Redstones)
- Redstone (More than 40 stones)
- 2 buttons (2 Blocks of Wood)
- Min 11 Wood blocks
Place 11 Pistons on the Bottom of the setup just like you were going to do if you had sticky pistons but instead of having a lever to keep it on to bring up the 2nd layer of books. I have put on top and bottom of the book shelves a piston.
The equation
If you have a room only two blocks high, you need at least 11 wood blocks or you could use cobblestone to do the same thing.
- 2 blocks high -- You will need to 6 blocks up and down to use. The 1'st block and last block will be the piston. The 2nd and 3rd block will be Book Shelf and the 4th block will be either Cobblestone or Wood. 5th block will be empty. So to let the piston extend one block!
- 3 blocks high -- Same thing as 2 blocks high but add 1 more block to up and down and add another Wood or Cobblestone block. You can continue this till the limit but that is up to you, which is a total of 12 blocks can be moved with a piston.
After that you are all set. You just need to add repeaters and then high the redstone markings and repeaters by putting blocks in front of it. You will also need to have test it but if you have done it right one of the bookshelves will disappear into the floor. This is how I created my 2 level enchanting table to be able to use both high and low level enchants with! Very useful!
